The UNS N06022 Bolt has good resistance to oxidising conditions due to its high chromium concentration. For instance, the ASTM B574 UNS N06022 has excellent corrosion resistance properties in environments that have oxidising aqueous media like wet chlorine or in mixtures that contain nitric acid or oxidising acids with chlorine ions. The Alloy C22 Fasteners are recognised to have strong resistance to reducing media due to the addition of molybdenum and tungsten content. When added to these Hastelloy C22 Screws, nickel, which is known to have strong corrosion resistance qualities by itself, provides the best corrosion resistance in settings where reducing and oxidising conditions are present in process streams. Hastelloy's ability to do this is advantageous in multipurpose plants where mixed conditions are common.
The Hastelloy C22 Bolts' nickel component prevents grain-boundary precipitates from forming in the weld heat-affected zone. As a result, Hastelloy fasteners work effectively in applications involving chemical processes when they are still in the welded state. The Hastelloy 22's excellent weldability and good ductility are additional characteristics. Hastelloy 22 has good ductility, which enables it to be formed into a wide variety of fasteners including bolts, screws, nuts, and more.
Although the Alloy C-22 fasteners are well suited for use at elevated temperatures, care must be taken that these fasteners not be included in services where the temperature can go above 1250° F due to the formation of detrimental phases which can occur post this temperature mark.
