The UNS N06022 Bar's high chromium concentration gives the alloy a good level of resistance to oxidising environments. The Alloy C22 Round Bar offers good resistance to the alloy in reducing media due to the presence of both molybdenum and tungsten content.
The resistance of this nickel-based steel alloy to exposure in oxidising aqueous media is also well-known. For instance, the Hastelloy C22 Tig Rod exhibits exceptional corrosion resistance to wet chlorine, nitric acid mixtures, and oxidising acid-chlorine ion mixtures.

Other corrosive media, such as oxidising acid chlorides, wet chlorine, ferric and cupric chlorides, formic and acetic acids, brine, and sea water, are also resistant to Hastelloy C-22. The alloy is also resistant to several mixed or polluted chemical solutions, as well as organic and inorganic substances.

Hastelloy C22 Bar's nickel alloy provides the best resistance to settings where oxidative and reductive conditions are present in process streams. Hastelloy C22 can be made by cold working since it is ductile, though work hardening may necessitate intermediate annealing. Between 2020° F and 2150° F can be used for annealing, which is then followed by a quick quench.

Gas tungsten-arc, gas metal-arc, and shielded metal-arc procedures can all be used to weld hastelloy C22 rod.
