Only surface treatments approved by the manufacturer may be used on nuts and bolts. The standard must be marked with the CE symbol, the product designation (ISO standard ISO 4014 or ISO 4017 for nuts and ISO 4032 for bolts), the lot number, the "SB" symbol, the property class symbol, the dimension, and the identification number of the certified authority and manufacturer. Generally speaking, this standard labelling norm is applicable to fasteners with a diameter between M 12 and M 36. The property class marking, the manufacturer's identification mark, and the special "SB" or structural bolting marking make up the nuts and bolts' en 15048 marking.
A manufacturer must adhere to certain specifications in order to make and deliver the EN 15048 bolt. For instance, the manufacturer should be solely in charge of, and responsible for, the surface treatment of the fasteners.
The producer must possess a CE conformity certificate, commonly known as a certified production control system. The manufacturer must also be able to create a performance statement or review of the performance of his product. The Declaration of Performance, or DoP, is another name for this assessment of the product's performance. Furthermore, it should be emphasised that the performance statement is still void in the absence of the CE marking.
