The maximum pressure (in either psi or bars) that a flange can withstand at rising temperatures is referred to as flange rating or class. In comparison to flanges with a lesser class or rating, those with a higher rating or class tend to be stronger. This is due to the fact that high-rated flanges with ansi 1500 lb flange dimensions can withstand mych higher pressure as temperature rises.
Despite having the same rating, two 1500 lb rtj flange dimensions fabricated of different materials will perform differently under pressure and under heat. The maximum allowed pressure that a flange can withstand while operating at increasing temperatures is known as a flange's pressure rating. There are seven flange pressure ratings or pressure classes, per the ANSI/ASME B16.5 specification. Following are the seven pressure ratings: 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500. Dimensions for the ASME B16.5 - Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings 1500 lb rtj flange are NPS 1/2 Metric/Inch through NPS 24 Metric/Inch Standard.
The bolt circle dimensions, which are about 1/8 inch larger than the bolt diameter, are included in the 1500 LB Flange Dimensions. The phrases pressure rating, #, class, Lb, and Lbs are frequently used interchangeably. Which means that all of the phrases above pertain to the same precise idea of a flange's function under pressure and at different temperatures. These phrases can also be applied to other pieces of machinery, such as valves, fittings, etc., in addition to flanges.
The following example demonstrates the aforementioned point:
If two flanges are made of the same material, say grade A105, and have the same bore size, let's assume they are both 6 inches. However, there are two distinct pressure ratings for both flanges. The pressure ratings of the two flanges are 150 for one and 300 for the other. In this instance, the class 150 flange, which is rated lower, will be lighter, smaller, and less robust than the class 300 flange, which is rated significantly higher. The dimensions for a 1500 lb slip-on flange are typically given in inches.
Unless otherwise requested by the buyer, 1500 lb weld neck flange measurements are typically provided with a 14 inch raised face; however, a flat face option is also available for 1500 lb blind flange dimensions.
