Commercially pure, solid solution-strengthened wrought metal is nickel 201. The mechanical qualities of ASTM B160 UNS N02201 are good and steady throughout a large temperature range. The remarkable resistance of nickel 201 to numerous corrosives is one of its characteristics. For hydroxides in particular, this is true. Nickel 200 has been modified to become Nickel 201 alloy. In many processes, the Din 2.4068 Bar's controlled carbon prevents the metal from becoming embrittled by intergranular precipitates between a temperature range of 600° F and 1400° F.

The high resistance to various reducing chemicals, great caustic alkali resistance, outstanding corrosion resistance to distilled and natural waters, and excellent resistance to dry fluorine are just a few of the advantageous properties of UNS N02201 Nickel Bar. Additionally, the Nickel 201 Round Bar is utilised to handle caustic soda since it is resistant to neutral and alkaline salt solutions. In addition to these characteristics, Nickel 201 ASTM B160 possesses good thermal, electrical, and magnetostrictive properties.
Sulfuric acid resistance is also provided by ASTM B160 UNS N02201 at low temperatures and concentrations. Nickel 201 Rod's reduced carbon content makes it resistant to graphitization. The material is therefore less susceptible to embrittlement. Under ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, Division 1, nickel grade 201 has been permitted for use in the building of pressure vessels and component parts. Applications requiring nickel 201 are ASTM B160-approved for temperatures up to 1230° F.
Typical uses for Nickel 201 ASTM B160 include equipment for food processing, salt production, reactors and vessels where fluorine is produced and reacts with hydrocarbons, caustic handling equipment, and marine and offshore engineering. In addition to these uses, the UNS N02201 Nickel Bar can be used to manufacture and handle sodium hydroxide, especially at temperatures above 300° F.
The UNS N02201 Nickel Bar is suitable for use in chemical processing and storage, the manufacture of synthetic fibres, and procedures involving the use of sodium hydroxide and fluorine. Food production and the aerospace and defence industries are further applications.
