The only difference between these two nickel steel alloys is the higher level of carbon in alloy 800H. Additionally, alloy 800HT has up to 1.20% of titanium and aluminium added to it. The modifications made to the Incoloy 800HT's chemistry result in the best high temperature properties, which can be applied to high temperature structural applications. The first of these alloys to reach the market was Inconel 800 Round Bar, and by adjusting the amount of carbon added to the alloy, it was slightly modified to become Incoloy 800H.

The degree of alteration was regulated so that the carbon content could range from 0.05 to 0.10%. The ASTM B408 UNS N08811 alloys are extremely resistant to both chloride stress-related corrosion cracking and brittleness brought on by the precipitation of sigma phase because to their high nickel content. The Incoloy 800h Round Bar has outstanding all-around corrosion resistance. The Incoloy 800 Round Bar has exceptional creep and stress rupture qualities when solution annealed.

The majority of uses for alloy 800ht bar can withstand temperatures of up to 1100° F. Even when exposed to heat for extended periods of time at temperatures between 1200 and 1600 degrees Fahrenheit, where many stainless steels brittle, incoloy 800 round bar will not do so. Excellent cold forming properties of Inconel 800 Round Bar are typically attributed to nickel-chromium alloys. Orange peel is the term for the surface that is produced when Inconel 800 is extensively cold formed. The standard methods for welding stainless steels can be used on ASTM B408 UNS N08811.
