In comparison to 400, the ASTM B865 UNS N05500 Hex Bar is stronger, more wear-resistant, and harder after precipitation hardening. The ASTM B865 UNS N05500 Hex Bar can be reinforced even further by cold working before precipitation hardening. The ASTM B865 N05500 Flat Bar is noted to have twice the tensile strength and three times the yield strength of alloy 400.
